King’s Road (Route 138)
Completed in the 18th century, the King’s Road (Chemin du Roy)—often called the land-based twin of the St. Lawrence—was once the only road connecting Montréal and Québec City. While Route 138 is no longer the sole link between the two, it’s still by far the most beautiful!
For nearly 300 years, this silent witness to history has carried travellers through stunning rural landscapes, historic heritage sites, welcoming accommodations, and local agri-food treasures that make the region proud. On a road like this, every kilometre is meant to be savoured.
